Clay County Fair at Hand

Chelsey Scott (center) was crowned Miss Clay County Saturday evening at the fairgrounds in Piggott. She's the 19-year-old daughter of Jennifer and Gregg Wilson, and Joseph Scott, of Rector. This year's Miss Clay County court includes, fourth alternate Jessica Garner, 20-year-old daughter of John and Mary Garner of Rector, second alternate Megan Johnson, 17-year-old daughter of Ronald and Brandi Johnson of Pollard, Miss Clay County Chelsey Scott, first alternate Victoria Hill, 17-year-old daughter of Corbin and Shannon Hill of Rector and third alternate, Emmaline Faith Hobbs, 17-year-old daughter of Roger and Melinda Hobbs of Piggott.

The fair gets underway Wednesday, and runs through Saturday, at the fairgrounds in Piggott. Armbands are also on sale for $15, and will be $20 after Wednesday, as well. The armband promotions will be going on from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 17 and 18; and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, or you can get an armband that is good for 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Pre-sale armbands are available through Tuesday at Madpies and Second Peek Boutique in Piggott, Rector Downtown Drug and Goodman Pharmacy and Cate Pharmacy in Corning. The armbands will also be on sale throughout the day on Wednesday in the fairgrounds kitchen. Armbands purchased after Wednesday are $20.

The fairgrounds kitchen will also be open for lunch and supper throughout the fair.
