Lady Mohawk Volleyball Update

The Piggott Lady Mohawks swept Ridgefield Christian in conference volleyball Thursday evening. The senior girls took their match in straight sets, while the junior girls notched their first win of the season. Tuesday evening they stumbled, as both squads were swept by Walnut Ridge.

The senior Lady Mohawks took little time dispatching the Warriors in their match, taking it in three straight 25-5, 25-15 and 25-9.

Leading the way was Megan Johnson, as she was 27 of 28 from the service line, with 6 aces. Meanwhile, Colby Crossfield was 15 of 15 serving, with 4 aces and 12 assists and MaKalia Beck had 4 aces, 8 kills and 4 blocks in the win.

Meanwhile, the junior girls notched their first win of the season 25-11 and 25-19, recording a team total of 19 aces along the way. Harley Earnhart had a big game, with 6 aces and 3 kills; Bailey Davis had 4 aces, Ashley Jefferies and Tessa Holcomb finished with 3 aces each, Alexis Russell had 2 kills and Paige Choate finished with 2 aces and 4 assists.

The Mohawks are slated to visit CRA for conference play this Thursday, Sept. 24, and the senior team is scheduled to take part in the ASU Playday at Valley View this Saturday, Sept. 26. A home non-conference set with Trumann is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 28, at PHS and on Tuesday, Sept. 29, the Lady Mohawks are slated to visit Cedar Ridge.
