Margaret "Mar Dee" Lindsey

Monday, September 28, 2015

Margaret "Mar Dee" Marie (Rutledge) Lindsey, daughter of the late Henry Dale and Hattie (Barker) Rutledge, was born August 29, 1926, in Steele, Mo., and departed this life September 26, 2015, at the age of 89 years. Margaret married Lowell Lindsey May 5, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2007.

She is survived by her children, Jane Pruett Foster and James Lowell and his wife Charlotte Lindsey of Rector; her grandchildren, Billie Jane Farley (Mike), Michael Lindsey (April), Leah Lindsey Ford (Kirk) and Becky Lindsey (Jason) all of Rector; her great-grandchildren, Destinei Heathcott of Nashville, Tenn. along with Derek Williams, Eternitei Lindsey, Drake Lindsey, Lastin Lindsey, Lindsey Ford, Lawson Ford, Colton Lindsey and Cash Lindsey all of Rector; one great-great-grandchild, Levi Williams of Paragould; a sister, Hazel Jo Burns of Blytheville along with other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Biggart Burns and Dessie Nadine Rutledge.

Margaret found much joy in gardening, toiling on the farm and any outside activity that involved good old-fashioned "hard work." Her love for activity was surpassed only by her love for, not only her family, but people. She never met a stranger. Most of her acquaintances in her golden years knew her simply as "Granny".

Our family and friends will miss our Granny, but are comforted by the countless memories of her and the stories she told until we are reunited again.

Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett with Reverend Don Morris officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett was in charge of the arrangements.
