Piggott Fire Chief Brian Haley reports a residence on Heritage Park Road was extensively damaged by a fire of unknown origin in the early morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 24. Luckily, there were no injuries although the home was a complete loss.

Firefighters were called out to 2537 Heritage Park Road at 1:50 a.m. on the report of the blaze at the Bill Abernathy residence. According to Haley, when they arrived at the scene they found the blaze was already fully involved, and had broken through the roof of the home.

Fire personnel remained on the scene until the blaze was extinguished, but were called back out around 5:30 a.m. when the fire re-kindled.

No cause of the fire was determined, and the initial indications were the home was a complete loss as it was gutted by the blaze.
