The Mohawk tennis teams tuned-up for the upcoming district at Jonesboro with a set of matches against Corning in the past week. The Lady Mohawks split their two meetings with the Lady Bobcats, while the boy's team swept their cross county rivals. Meanwhile, last week's tri-match was called due to rain as the Tribe preps for Thursday's tourney at Allen Park. The victories came on the heels of Coach Paul Seegrave's 500th win leading the program, although in the excitement he incorrectly reported it as 300 wins at the time.

Monday afternoon the two teams met again at the local courts, with the girls dropping a 2-3 decision while the boys won 6-2.

Seegraves took her singles set 6-0 over Bettis, while Crittenden fell to Landruth 6-0. In doubles play it was Staples and Woodard over Alea Davis and Carpenter 6-3 while Chadwell and Massey fell to Johnson and Maggie Couch 6-4 and Hobbs and Alex McDaniel dropped their set with Landreth and Johnson 4-0.

Entering this Thursday's district tournament at Allen Park in Jonesboro the boy's team sports a record of 13-3 overall while the girls now stand at 13-4-1 on the season.
