Mohawk Tennis Teams at State

Wednesday, October 21, 2015

Members of the Mohawk boys and girls tennis teams took part in the 3A state tournament Monday and Tuesday in North Little Rock. The girls brought home a runner-up team finish, while the boys finished third.

The doubles teams for both squads also made it to the championship match, but fell to eventual champions Episcopal Collegiate, who swept the competition.

The doubles teams of Meghan Woodard and Devyn Staples and Quinton Mauldin and Kyle Mauldin also qualify for the state overall tourney, set for next week, as 3A runner-ups. Meanwhile, Emilee Seegraves fell in the quarterfinals of singles play, but will be an alternate.

Dropping their opening matches, but helping their teams to the top finishes, were Mohawk singles players Madison Crittenden and Tyler Peters.

Complete details may be found in the Oct. 28 edition of the CCTD.
