Charles Thomas Maltbie

Charles Thomas Maltbie, age 91, passed on from this life on October 15, 2015. A member of this country's greatest generation, he served his country in the United States Army and Army Air Corps during World War II and the post-war years. A true cowboy, he spent decades ranching and farming in Colorado, Kansas and Texas, among other places, before retiring to his birthplace of Northeast Arkansas these last 20-plus years.

He is survived by his wife, Etta Bernice (Clayton) Maltbie; a son, Gary; a sister, Patricia Speer; four grandchildren, Sean (Michelle), Aaron, Matthew and Danielle; seven great grandchildren, Ajia, Jack, Carlisle, George, Alivia, Ella and Sterling and two great-great grandchildren, Derek and Grant.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Rickie Allen and Curtis Lee; his parents, Charles and Olive (Townsend) and siblings Archie, Herbert, Willard, Mable Juanita, Arnie Leota and Esta Louella.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector with internment at the Woodland Heights Cemetery.
