Next week Piggott High School will host the 3A state volleyball tournament. The tournament, which will feature the top teams from across the state, will be played Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 27, 28 and 29 at PHS.
On Tuesday there are eight matches on tap in the first round, with start times of noon, 2, 4 and 6 p.m. The first day matches will be played on both floors at PHS, with the new gym designated as court one and the "middle" gym as court two.
The quarterfinals will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 28, on the main floor with matches set to begin once again at noon, 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Meanwhile, the four teams making it to the semi-finals will meet at 1 and 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 to determine this year's finalists.
Those two teams will then travel to Hot Springs, where they'll play in the 3A state championship match at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.
As of press time the seedings were yet to be determined, although the Lady Mohawks were eliminated from contention in a district play-off Saturday at Cedar Ridge.
The matches are open to the public, and admission is $5 per person.
