Lois Mae Baker

Lois Mae Baker, 92, of Piggott, Ark., passed away October 21, 2015, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Piggott.

She was born on May 15, 1923, near Black Rock, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Charles Lester and Grace (Scott) Rowland.

She was united in marriage to Ewell Edgar Baker on June 17, 1940, and to this union four sons were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Junior Rowland.

Lois was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott.

Survivors include her four sons, Fred Baker and wife Mary of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Bob Baker and wife Kay of Piggott, Ronnie Baker and wife Shirley of Piggott and Randy Baker and wife Debbie of Vilonia, Ark.; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Joe Rowland and Jimmy Rowland; four sisters, Norma Gilmore, Grace Lee Westerfield, Shirley Culver and Clara Burress and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating and Loy Culver assisting. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Ark. Pallbearers were Spencer Permenter, Darrel Galyean, Alden Turner, Ray Murray, Cotton Smith and Barry Johnson. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held Thursday evening at the funeral home.
