Basketball Time in Rector, HOF Classic Set

It's basketball time at Rector.

The 2015-16 season gets off with a full slate of games over the next week.

Leading the way will be the Lady Cougars, who will travel to Corning for the season opener Thursday night in both junior and senior action.

The Rector girls teams, under the direction of coach Matt Dean, will keep up the early pace with games Friday night at Maynard, Monday at Armorel and Tuesday at Piggott.

The teams will then participate in the RHS Hall of Fame Classic the following weekend on their home court with games that will include conference action against Marked Tree.

Coach Matt Mills' boys teams will get underway with junior and senior games Friday night at Corning.

The Cougars will travel to Pocahontas on Saturday for a "practice game"

that originally was scheduled for this past Tuesday.

The boys teams then will travel Monday to Armorel and Tuesday to Maynard before playing on the home court in the HOF Classic. Marked Tree will provide one of the games for the Cougars in the tournament.

HOF Classic Schedule

The annual Rector High School Sports Hall of Fame Basketball Classic is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the RHS gym with the RHS senior girls playing Marked Tree, followed by the RHS junior high girls team at 6:40 and the RHS junior high boys at 8 p.m.

Games will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, with the RHS senior girls playing South Pemiscot and the senior boys at 6:40 playing Marked Tree.

The final day of games will begin at noon Saturday, Nov. 21, with the RHS junior girls competing with Manila, followed by the RHS senior girls at 1:20.

The Manila junior high boys team will compete against Pocahontas at 3 p.m. followed by the RHS senior boys playing Manila at 4:45 p.m.

Presentation of the RHSSHOF inductee plaques honoring Paul Wiley Frets, Joe Perry, L.B. "Bucket" Moseley and the 1966 Rector basketball team will be at 6:05 p.m.

The South Pemiscot senior boys will play Pocahontas at 6:25 and the Marmaduke senior girls will compete with South Pemiscot at 7:50 p.m to finish out the classic.
