Harry Curtiss Veal
Harry Curtiss Veal, 87, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.
He was born on May 25, 1928, in Sedgewick, Ark., and was the son of the late Frank and Dora (Taylor) Veal.
He was united in marriage to Hazel Nash on Aug. 12, 1946, and to this union two children, Billy Curtiss and Donna Gail, were born.
Curt graduated from Walnut Ridge High School and soon began working for Texas-Eastern Transmission Company and retired after 41 years. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Piggott, and served as Deacon since the 1960s.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two grandsons, Brian Dennis Cate and Scott Curtiss Cate; five sisters, Mary, Margaret, Josephine, Alene and Louis and two brothers, Taylor and MacRay.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Veal of Piggott, Ark.; his son, Billy Curtiss Veal and wife Penny of Piggott, Ark.; his daughter, Donna Gail Cate and husband Dennis of Corning; his grandchildren, Traci Lynn Furhman and husband Tony of Bryant, Ark.; four great-grandchildren, Michael Curtiss, Paige Lynn, Garrett, and Kaitlynn along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rondal Richardson and Kevin Murray officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Ark. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday, and will continue until the time of the service at the funeral home.
