Football Playoff Update
The third round of the Arkansas state high school football playoffs were held last Friday, as the field continues to be narrowed.
In 3A the Rivercrest Colts upset Glen Rose on the road 20-7, as the Colts remained alive. Meanwhile, Smackover beat West Fork 15-6, Harding Academy eliminated Danville 22-14 and Prescott rolled over Lamar 53-28.
This sets up the semi-final round, as Harding Academy will host the Curly Wolves of Prescott Friday evening at Searcy. Meanwhile, Rivercrest was scheduled to visit the Buckaroos, but poor field conditions at Smackover have forced the AAA to move the game. It will now be played in El Dorado's Memorial Stadium on Friday night, with Smackover as the home team.
Meanwhile, in 2A quarterfinal action McCrory advanced with a 16-7 win over Mount Ida, Rison beat Hector 45-36, England downed Des Arc 28-22 and Conway Christian eliminated Hazen 34-30.
Friday night England will travel to Rison for one of the semi-finals, while the Jaguars will host Conway Christian in the other.
And, the 4A semi-finals will feature Arkadelphia at Prairie Grove and Pea Ridge at Nashville.
All of the state title games will be played in War Memorial Stadium, in Little Rock. The 5A championship game will be played at 7 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 4, between Pulaski Academy and Little Rock McClellan. The 6A title game will be played at noon on Saturday, Dec. 5, between Greenwood and Pine Bluff and the 7A championship will be decided that evening, with kick-off set for 7 as Springdale Har-Ber takes on Fayetteville.
