Lady Cougars Fall at Riverside
Both the senior high and junior high Lady Cougars fell to Riverside in conference play Monday on the Rebels' home court, 46-28 and 27-15 respectively .
"I thought both teams played really hard and it's sometimes slow getting back into the game after Thanksgiving," coach Matt Dean said.
The senior girls started off right, leading the first quarter 8-2, but Riverside stepped up their game in the second quarter taking over in the second and third quarters 16-13 and 30-22.
Leading in scoring for the Cougars was Colby Lynch with 11. Other scorers were Tori Hill 8, Matison Dean 3, Sarah Isom 3, Dominique Coln 2 and Madison Chandler 1.
"There were just too many turnovers; that's something we need to work on," Dean said.
The junior high ladies got down in the first quarter by the Rebels' double digit scorer Briley Douglas, who netted six of her 12 points in the frame.
"We got off to a slow start, getting behind 10 points and it ended up being a 12-point game," Dean said.
Leading quarters for the hosts were 10-0, 12-3 and 19-12. Leading the Cougars was Mylesa Gant with 7 followed by Gabby Clark 5 and Colby Robinson 3.
The senior ladies have a 4-5 record for the season and 1-2 in conference. The junior high is 2-5 for the season and 1-2 conference.
The next games will be Thursday, Dec. 10, against Cross County at the RHS gym.
