Piggott High FFA Dominates Competition

Members of the Piggott High School FFA chapter competed in the Sub-Area Leadership Contest at Walnut Ridge recently and brought home a number of top finishes.

Taking first place in their competition was the Parliamentary Procedure Team, which includes--Hannah Powell as chair, Hannah Smart as first chair, Ally Kilbreath as second chair, Ethan Holcomb in third chair, Molly Lambert in fourth chair and Molly Grace Williams in fifth chair.

Williams also claimed a first place finish in Extemporaneous Public Speaking.

Meanwhile, two PHS students dominated Prepared Public Speaking, with Brice Howard finishing first and Hailey Hilfiker bringing home second place honors.

Jordan Simpson also placed second in the FFA Creed competition.

The local chapter also took first place in competition among the Opening and Closing Ceremonies teams. The group included President Trey Gossett, Vice President Presley Tullos, Reporter Katelyn Jackson, Treasurer Micah Ermert, Secretary Laela Stivers, junior advisors Isaac Langley and Shelby Howard and Sentinel Madison Vanderkooi.

The local students will next participate in the district contest, set for Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
