Once again this year the generosity of local and regional residents and business spelled success for the annual DHS Christmas Project.

According to county administrator Annette Dutka, the annual effort benefited 63 families in Clay County this holiday season, including 125 children. She noted the local support included several last-minute and very generous donors, allowing all of the children to receive assistance.

An added treat for many of the recipients was a visit from members of the PHS Mohawk football teams, as they served as special volunteer "elves" to aid with deliveries on Tuesday.

Dutka offered a word of thanks to everyone who made the effort possible, and included a hearty, "Merry Christmas."
