Willene Gardner, 94, of Jonesboro, passed away January 2, 2016, at the Flo/Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born February 23, 1921, to the late Edward and Flora (Speer) Davidson in Greene County, Ark. She loved her family and spent lots of quality hours with them. She was passionate about her gardening and could grow anything. She was an LPN at the Paragould Home for Golden Years until she was 72 and only quit then to take care of her husband. She was also a member of the Christian Life Fellowship Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern Gardner.
She is survived by a son, Ed Gardner of Jonesboro; her grandchildren, Tony Gardner, Chris (Shelly) Gardner and Jennifer (Brian) Rega; her great-grandchildren, Evan Gardner, Olivia Gardner and Logan Swift; her sisters, Drucilla Davidson of Louisiana and Vada Langston of Michigan along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home, with Jeff Chandler in charge of the services. Interment will be in the Woodland Heights Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the charity of the giver's choice or to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, in Jonesboro.
