Don C. Parementer
Don C. Parmenter, of Rector, Ark., passed away on January 28, 2016, at the Rector Nursing and Rehab at the age of 83 years. He was born December 11, 1932, to Briney and Essie Parmenter, who preceded him in death.
Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rector. Notable accomplishments in his life included graduating from Rector High School, earning a degree at Arkansas State University and serving his country in the U.S. Army and the Arkansas National Guard.
Don worked as an ASI for 30 years at the Rector National Guard Armory. He served on the Federal Housing Board and Woodland Heights Cemetery Board until poor health made it necessary for him to resign. Don was recognized as the 1997-98 Disaster Volunteer of the year by the Crowley's Ridge Chapter of the American Red Cross.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Wyatt Parmenter of the home and his daughter, Crystal (Parmenter) Williams and her husband, Thomas Williams, of Germantown, Tenn.
Honored to serve as pallbearers: Johnny Williams, Don Sears, Barry Hill, Gregg Sain, Tommy Huggins and Richard Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Sigsby, Stephen Crancer, Don Williams, Danny Ford, Lawrence Ashlock, Bill Barnett, Jerry Horton, Dan McBride and Stephen Simmons.
Visitation will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday Feb. 1, in the Rector First United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 2p.m. at the church with Rev. Mace Straubel officiating. Burial is in the Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
