Rehearsal is in full swing, and plans are being finalized, for the Clay County Arts Council's annual Night of Chocolate Dinner Theatre, set for Valentine's Saturday, Feb. 13. The catered buffet dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the highlight of the evening, the comedy Murder at the Pie Auction, by Michael Druce, presented by community actors and actresses.

If that were not sufficient to put the cherry on top of a Cupid celebration, in addition to the Traveling Wisk's signature desserts and chocolate fountain, the play will include audience participation and a real, live, authentic, genuine, yummy-yummy, good-for-what-ails-you Pie Auction.

"Bring your dollars and your check books, too; you'll want to play along and take home a delicious pie," organizers noted.

Rehearsals are currently underway at the Rector Community Center, and find renowned pie bakers, pie judges and pie critics scurrying around in an attempt to determine this year's winner of an international pie baking contest. As watchers of the Food Network, Cake Boss, Cupcake Wars, Paula Deen and Sons, or anyone who has seen Julia Child in action can attest, the culinary world is full of headlines and intrigue. And, plenty of zany characters and heaping cups of comedy will be on stage at the RCC on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Tickets are $35 and must be purchased in advance. They're available from cast members and CCAC board members along with Honeysuckle and Home in Rector and Madpies Tea Room, The Treasure Chest and Lolly's in Piggott. No tickets will be sold at the door.
