A home on South 16th Avenue in Piggott was gutted by fire Saturday afternoon, and as of last report the cause of the blaze had yet to be determined. According to Piggott Fire Chief Brian Haley, personnel were summed to the home of Robert and Stephanie Jett around mid-day after a blaze broke out at the rear of the structure.

Fire personnel were hampered by high winds in battling the blaze, but reported no injuries to the occupants or firefighters. According to Haley, firefighters also re-visited the location on Monday afternoon after a motorist saw smoke rising from debris at the rear of the structure.

The home was originally built by Bill and Lottie Gookin, and was acquired by the Jetts about five years ago. Initial indications were that it was a complete loss.
