A special signing ceremony was held Monday, March 28, in the library of Piggott High School. The ceremony was planned to recognize PHS senior Shelby Morgan, of Piggott, as she has accepted a scholarship to attend Frank Phillips College, in Borger, Tex. Morgan chose to attend FPC in order to continue her rodeo career. And, although there is no Mohawk rodeo team, a large crowd of family, friends and well-wishers were on hand as she signed her letter of intent.

The daughter of Jerry Morgan and Brandee Moore, Morgan, has been a member of the Lady Mohawk softball squad for four years. She has also been participating as a contestant in Arkansas High School Rodeo events for the past three years. She'll be attending college in Texas to compete in both breakaway roping and team roping, as the school features a nationally-know rodeo program.

But, Morgan also has a clear vision of her future plans in life in making the decision, as she will be majoring in nursing with plans to someday be a trauma nurse.

"We want to thank Nikki Speer and Melissa Turner for organizing the signing party," her mother said of the occasion. "And, we want to thank PHS Principal Barry DeHart for his years of support of Shelby as she participated in the high school rodeo association."
