Murray Recognized by WBC for Play, Academics
The Williams Baptist College baseball team had three players receive honors from the American Midwest Conference, including former Mohawk Tanner Murray. A total of 13 Eagles received honors for their academic success and on-field performances.
Ryan Shelton was honored as a First Team All-Conference selection as an outfielder. Shelton led the team this season with a .375 average. Catcher, and PHS grad, Tanner Murray was also honored as a Second Team All-Conference performer. Murray hit .316 this season with nine doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs and two stolen bases. He also posted a .993 fielding percentage. Meanwhile, Braxton Rhodes received accolades as a Second Team All-Conference selection.
Twelve athletes were also named to the Academic All-Conference team. To qualify, a player must carry a 3.0 grade point average and have been at the respective institution for a year. Murray and Rhodes were joined on the list by Alex Camp, Tyler Cole, Ryan Cupp, Dalton Freshour, Brad Gilliam, Seth Hart, Morgan Hawley, Dalton Nilges, Brennan Pugh and Nick Scott.
