Rector street projects approved by AHTD

The Arkansas Highway Commission approved bids on several improvement projects to roadways in both Clay and Randolph counties on May 25, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Among the projects given approval were improvements to several streets in Rector, including Donna Street, Woodland Heights Drive, Cagle Street, Donaldson Street along with Third, Fourth, Sixth, Eighth and 13th streets.

Streets in Knobel approved at the same time were Second, third, Fourth and Fifth Streets; Elm Street, Oak Street, Mulberry Street, Cherry Street and Cypress Street. And, an additional 5.2 miles of streets were approved for improvements in Biggers, including Randolph Street, Randabaugh Street, Puckett Street, Main Street and King Street.

AHTD officials noted Delta Aslphalt of Arkansas, Inc., of Paragould was awarded the contract at $644,979.14. Construction is scheduled to begin in the next two to four weeks, weather permitting. And, completion is expected in mid-2016.
