Retirement Celebration Set for Judge Gary Howell

A special retirement celebration for Clay County Judge Gary Howell will be held throughout the day on Saturday, June 18. Activities will be held on the square in downtown Piggott from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The special day has been set aside to honor Howell, who is serving the final year of of his 10th term in office.

Organizers note there will be live music throughout the day, and anyone is welcome to set up a booth to sell food, drinks and other items. There is no charge for booth space, and those wanting additional information may call 870 634-6504.

Featured entertainers will be J.R. Rogers and the All Star Band, along with Steve McElyea and his wife, Lori. The All Star Band includes Chris Hinds and Tom Bennett, who have played with, and still perform with, such country stars as Ronnie Millsap, T. Graham Brown, Clint Black, Ronnie McDowell, Johnny Lee, Johnny Paycheck, Narvel Felts, John Conlee and T. G. Shepherd, just to mention a few.

Additional local and regional performers are also welcome, and are reminded to bring their instruments.

"We have set this special day aside for Gary Howell to thank him for all the years he has served our county," organizer Gloria Crittenden noted. "This is his last year serving as Clay County Judge and we hope all county businesses and residents will join us to help celebrate this special event."

The public is welcome, and urged to attend.
