Anna Louise Thompson
Anna Louise Thompson, 91, of Byhalia, Miss., formerly of Rector, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Olive Branch Methodist Hospital after bravely battling five years of Dementia/Alzheimer Disease.
Louise was born August 28, 1924, and raised here. She attended Rector High School, and while raising four children, she graduated from cosmetology school and opened her own beauty shop in Whitehaven during the 1960s. She was married to Charles Thompson on June 25, 1945, and was blessed to have 47 years of marriage with him. They raised their family in Whitehaven/Memphis, and then retired to Rector in 1972. They loved camping, fishing, square dancing and their church. They also traveled the United States in their RV.
After leaving Rector for health reasons she was a resident of Silvercreek Retirement Living from 2011 to 2016, and more recently was a resident of Golden Living Center in Southaven.
Proceeding Louise in death were her parents, John and Ida Bell (Pullam) Speer; her husband, Charles Thompson; three brothers, J.C. Speer, Cecil Speer and John Speer and one sister, Freeda Everett.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sandra and Stanley Kline of Conroe, Tex., Dennis and Claudia Thompson of Bartlett, Tenn., Linda and Denver Woods of Byhalia, Miss. and Rita and Mike Stokes of Byhalia, Miss. She was blessed to have been loved by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Berneice Wooten of Rector, and many other family members.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 1, at the First United Methodist Church of Rector. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the church. There will be a private burial service.
