Camille Brewer Boyce
Camille Brewer Boyce, 95, passed away, peacefully in her home, on Friday morning, July 15, 2016, in Rancho Bernardo, Calif. She was born December 18, 1920, in Rector, Ark., to John Henry and Hattie Mae Stein Brewer. John Brewer owned Brewer Lumber Company. Camille grew up in Rector, and graduated from Rector High School in 1938. She attended nursing school at Southern Baptist Hospital, New Orleans, La., where she earned a degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked as an operating room nurse.
Camille married Wilfred M. Boyce in 1947, in Rector. They were married for 39 years until his passing in 1978. Camille was a member of the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, golfing and playing Bridge along with many other card table games with her friends. She was a talented furniture refurbisher and a decoupage artist. After moving to Summit, N.J. in 1959, Camille continued to use her nursing skills as a founding member of the Summit Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Camille is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Donna (Shields) Boyce of Escondido, Calif. and daughter and son-in-law, Linda Boyce Starling and Michael Starling of Cambridge, Md.; her grandchildren, Michael Starling, Dustin Boyce, Jessica Boyce Hansen, Jeffrey Starling and Malorie Boyce, and great-grandchildren, Gavin Boyce, Skylar Boyce and Avery Lynn Hansen.
Camille was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Maurice "Bill" Boyce; her parents, Hattie and John Brewer; siblings, John Henry Brewer Jr, Julia (Brewer) Gober and Helen Frances (Brewer) Haas.
A memorial service will be held at Rancho Bernardo Community Church, where Camille was a member for over 40 years.
