Claude Alan Conner
Claude Alan Conner, 68, of Fairdealing, Mo., passed away on July 23, 2016, at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Mo. He was born on May 16, 1948, at Qulin, Mo., to Elmer George Conner and Jamima (Winingnear) Conner.
On Aug. 6, 1969, in Qulin, Mo., he married Maxine Bell, and she survives.
Also surviving is his mother, Jamima Conner of Qulin; two sons, Don Conner and wife, Lena, of Fairdealing, Mo. And Jeremy Conner and wife, Kellie, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three sisters, Carolyn Dunivan of Cape Girardeau, Cheryl "Susie" Farley, and husband, Layman, of Crockett, Ark. And Sandi Kinghorn, and husband, Ted, of Escondido, Calif.
Mr. Conner was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Dennis Michael Conner and Donald David Conner.
Mr. Conner served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam era, where he was awarded a Bronze Star and also a Commendation Medal with a "V" device.
He enjoyed shortwave radios, fishing and his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 28, at the Fowler Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Mo. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Berger Cemetery, located near Qulin, Mo., with Rev. Allen Leutart officiating.
