Recently a group of adults and teens from the First Baptist Church of Piggott took part in a World Changers mission trip to Birmingham, Ala. During the week-long trip, the teens helped with a variety of construction projects, working on people's homes and sharing the gospel.

"It was definitely not a vacation, but a week of long hot days and tight schedules," noted Lilly Tompkins, who leads the local youth group with her husband, Michael.

Each city in which World Changers is located there is a collection of students from different churches, who come together for a common cause--and, each student and adult has to pay to attend.

"This year the cost was $300 per student, and they had to raise the money throughout the year in order to be able to attend," Tompkins explained.

The FBC group attend the event July 16 to 22, with other members of the Current Gaines Baptist Association, from the Clay County area.
