Chester Lee True

Chester Lee True, 88, of Holcomb Mo., was born December 3, 1927, to the late James Henry and Lou Jewel (Welch) True in Leachville, Ark. He passed from this life to his eternal home on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Piggott Community Hospital.

He married Martha Virginia Jordan on Nov. 24, 1953. From this union two daughters, Susan and Beth, were born. Virginia preceded him in death on August 6, 1994. On April 8, 2000, he married Jesselyn Glaub of Rector, Ark. Chester was blessed with two grandchildren, Jonathan Berntzen and Kathy Golden.

Chester was a self-made man who excelled in business and farming. In 1988 he retired from farming so he could spend more time with his family, especially his two grandchildren. He was a member and Trustee of the First Baptist Church in Holcomb until it was disbanded.

In 1950 Chester was inducted into the U.S Army, serving in the Corp of Engineers during the Korean Conflict until his honorable release from service in December, 1952. He was awarded the UN Service Medal during this time. On the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War, the South Korean government awarded him the Korean War Service Medal.

Chester is survived by his wife, Jesselyn; his daughters, Susan Berntzen of Gilbert, Ariz. and Beth Golden of Memphis, Tenn.; his son-in-law Erik Berntzen and his grandchildren, Jonathan Berntzen and Kathy Golden.

He is also survived by a sister, Laverne Vaughn of Piggott, Ark.; a step-son, Ted Glaub of Jonesboro, AR; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Nadine Patterson, Wilma Kerr, Betty Lou True and Shelby Jean McCallister; three brothers, J.C., Tom and Jim True and one stepdaughter, Stephne Glaub.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug.16, in the McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Reverend Kenny Burns and Reverend Daniel Roble officiating. Burial is in the Memorial Garden Cemetery in Kennett.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are David Blakemore, Terry Don Weaver, Brian Hays, Chuck Provance, Jonathan Berntzen and Jimmy True.

Honorary pallbearers are JT Moody, Donald Hunter, Donnie Patterson, Dennis Patterson, Mike Benson, Michael Kerr, Kevin True and Kathy Golden.
