Marguerite Swift, 99, of Piggott, Ark., passed away August 12, 2016, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Mo.

She was born on March 26, 1917, in Piggott, and was the daughter of the late Albert and Hallie (McGehee) Stallings. She was united in marriage to James B. Swift June 4, 1939, and to this union a son, James B. Swift, Jr. was born.

Marguerite graduated from Piggott High School in 1936. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Piggott, and a member of the Sugar Creek Country Club. She worked for over 25 years as school secretary for the Piggott School District.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Swift; her parents; four brothers, Clyde Stallings, Sherril Stallings, Gene Stallings and Lester Stallings along with four sisters, Frieda Underwood, Louise Holcomb, Lucille Stewart, Monedith Simpson and Ruby Martz.

She is survived by her son, James B. Swift, Jr., of Memphis, Tenn.; a grandson, Dr. David Kyle Swift and wife Cindy of Knoxville, Tenn.; her nieces and nephews, Larry Holcomb, Marilyn Deaton, Wayne Stewart, Sherry Simmons, Robin Wawrynski, Sam Holcomb, Jerry Martz, Butch Martz and Dick Martz and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Gary Deaton officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers are Trent Holcomb, Danny Baldwin, John James, James Magee, Gary French and Vivan Reed. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Hillard Duckworth, Larry Holcomb, Ronnie Underwood, Frank Staples, Van Taylor and Kirby Johnson. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, and will continue until service time.
