RHSSHOF/Owen Clopton Memorial Golf Tourney Set
Labor Day is fast approaching and with it comes many activities which serve to reunite old friends. One popular event is the annual Rector High School Sports Hall of Fame golf tournament. This is a major fundraiser for the foundation and is based on fun and fellowship.
Once again this year, St. Bernards Clopton Clinic will continue its support as the title sponsor for the event. In 2014, the tournament was played in honor of the late Dr. Owen H. Clopton Jr., a faithful supporter of the RHSSHOF. Later, the foundation's board approved renaming the tournament the Dr. Owen H. Clopton Jr. RHSSHOF Memorial Golf Tournament in honor of Dr. Clopton's legacy and St. Bernards Clopton Clinic's commitment to a continued sponsorship.
As in years past, the tournament format is a four-man scramble and will be limited to the first 18 teams. The tournament will be Friday, Sept. 2, at the Kennett Country Club. Cost is $200 per team. Tee time is set for 10:30 a.m. and the clubhouse opens at 9 for registration, in hopes of everyone finishing in time for the Cougars' football game that evening.
Funds generated by the annual golf tourney benefit current, and future, RHS athletes by providing scholarships, equipment and other needs.
Golfers may contact Michele Haley at (870) 240-5064 or Michael Lindsey at (870) 240-3257 to sign up or with any questions. "Remember, teams are limited and spots are already being filled, so don't delay to assure your team a spot," a spokesman said. "RHSHOF would like to thank all the players in advance, as well as sponsors who make this event a success."
