Piggott firefighters responded to a blaze in a vacant home last Tuesday evening, on East Poplar Avenue near Holland's Trailer Park. According to reports from the PFD, fire personnel were called to the scene just before 7 p.m. and found the structure fully involved.

The vacant home is on the William's Nursery property, and sources at the scene indicated it had not been occupied for several months.

Upon arrival the firefighters determined the structure could not be saved, as they worked to keep mobile homes in the nearby trailer park sprayed-down in an effort to keep the blaze from spreading. They also applied water to a number of nearby trees, again in an effort to keep the fire from spreading further.

No cause for the fire was determined, the home was a complete loss and there were no reported injuries among the firefighters responding to the scene.

(In the print edition of the CCTD it was reported the fire occurred on Wednesday, not Tuesday, of last week. We always strive to provide correct information, and apologize for the mistake.)
