Clay County Backs the Blue
In observance of Law Enforcement Appreciation Week blue ribbons are being displayed throughout the Piggott area. A special Law Enforcement Appreciation Day service is also planned for 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, at the First Baptist Church of Piggott. Area residents are also encouraged to hang blue ribbons, and other decorations, to show their support.
Recently, workers and office holders in both Clay County courthouses ordered special t-shirts to "Back the Blue" and some 35 were sold. Last week personnel in both the east and west district courthouses wore the shirts in support of regional first-responders, especially the Clay County Sheriff's Department and local police.
The service on Sunday will emphasize honoring the law enforcement personnel in the community, and surrounding area. There will also be a potluck meal following the morning worship service, served in the fellowship hall of the local church. Organizers expect over 50 first responders are expected to be on hand.
Area law enforcement personnel, and the general public, are invited to attend. An organizer noted the event had been planned to recognize the service and dedication of the men and women who protect and serve our community.
The church is located at 480 West Main Street in Piggott.
