Lady Mohawks Win Ozark Slam Fest
The Piggott Lady Mohawk volleyball teams have had a productive week, with both squads posting wins. The senior squad also traveled to Harrison on Saturday, and brought home first place in the Ozark Slam Fest. Both teams were scheduled to be in action Tuesday evening, but final scores were not available as of press time.
Both teams swept Cedar Ridge at PHS last Tuesday, with the junior girls taking their match 25-14 and 25-18. The senior squad also swept, posting 25-15, 25-17 and 25-20 scores en route to the win.
Colby Crossfield led the seniors inn the win with 37 assists, 2 kills, 1 ace and 1 dig, while Emily Trosper finished with 11 kills and 1 ace, Ally Kilbreath had 10 kills and an ace, Grayson Murray had 7 kills, Harley Earnheart had 5 kills and 3 aces, Hannah Powell had 4 kills and an ace, Lexi Herren had 2 aces and 2 digs, Bailey Davis had 4 kills and Alexis Russell and Paige Choate had one kill each.
Crowley's Ridge Academy
The Tribe visited CRA on Thursday, Sept. 8, and split on the night with the junior squad taking a loss. The junior girls fell 14-25 and 17-25, while the senior squad had not trouble with the Lady Falcons, notching a three set win 25-9, 25-2 and 25-23.
Crossfield had 19 assists and 5 kills, Powell had 3 aces, 3 digs and a kill, Trosper had 6 kills and 2 assists, Kilbreath had 6 kills, Davis finished with 5 kills, Herren had 4 digs, Murray had 3 kills and Earnheart had one.
Ozark Slam Festivities
The Piggott Lady Mohawk senior squad took first place in the Slam Fest at Harrison on Saturday, with wins over Bergman, Yellville-Summitt and Mansfield.
The Lady Panthers of Bergman fell to the Tribe in stright sets, 25-12 and 25-14 in round one. Crossfield was 17 of 18 serving with 1 ace, 2 digs and 8 assists, while Kilbreath was 7 for 7 with 4 kills, Powell had 6 digs and 8 assists, Herren had 4 digs and Davis had 2 kills in the win.
In round two they took on Yellville-Summitt and took two out of three, 25-24, 22-25 and 15-14 in the format. Crossfield had 19 assists, 4 aces and 3 digs, Trosper had 7 kills, 1 ace, 2 digs, 17 receptions with 1 error, Powell had 2 kills, 2 aces, 10 digs and 24 receptions with 3 errors, Kilbreath had 6 kills and 3 aces, Murray had 4 kills and Herren finished with 6 digs.
The Tribe then advanced to the first place game, and beat Mansfield 25-21 and 25-20. Crossfield again led the way with 21 assists and 3 aces, Powell had 8 digs, one kill and 18 receptions with 1 error, Davis finished with 6 kills, 1 dig and 2 blocks, Trosper had 4 kills and 3 digs, Herren had 6 digs, Earnheart had 2 aces and 4 kills, Kilbreath had 4 kills and Murray finished with two.
Monday evening both teams visited the Midland Lady Mustangs and swept both sets. The junior team got back into the winning ways with a 25-17 and 25-8 victory, while the senior squad rolled 25-9, 25-17 and 26-24.
Crossfield had 19 assists on the night, with 3 aces and1 kill while Trosper had 12 kills and an ace. Herren had 4 aces and 3 digs, Powell finished with 4 digs and an ace, Kilbreath had 6 aces and Murray finished with 5 kills in the win.
Both the juniors and seniors swept Ridgefield Christian Tuesday evening at PHS, and Thursday they'll also be at home as the Trumann Lady Wildcats visit for non-conference play. They're slated to visit Pocahontas on Monday, Sept. 19, and will visit Harrisburg on Thursday, Sept. 22 for a non-conference set with the Lady Hornets.
