Maxine Tanner, 87, of Piggott, Ark., passed away October 5, 2016, at her home in Piggott.
She was born on December 19, 1928, in St. Francis, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Herschell F. and Valrie (Vaughn) Dalton.
She was united in marriage to George E. Tanner on Jan. 29, 1949, and to this union three children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Tanner and her daughter, Vicki Harris.
Maxine graduated from Piggott High School in 1947 and later retired from Brown Shoe Company. She was a longtime member of the St. Francis First Baptist Church where she was the Sunday School teacher of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class for 25 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Hickson and husband Johnny of Piggott; a son, Mark Tanner and wife Dana of Garfield, Ark.; grandchildren, Joe Harris, Matthew Harris, Rob Hickson, Andrea Henson, Rebecca Hickson, Daryn Hickson and Lauren Hickson; four great-grandchildren, Reagan and Karlee Henson, Ella Book and Matthew W. Harris; two brothers, James Dalton of Melvindale, Mich. and Kenneth Dalton and wife Lenora of Carlton, Mich.; a sister, Eva Winningham and husband Millard of Melvindale, Mich. and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Randy Deprow officiating and Doug Clinton assisting. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
