Piggott FFA Livestock Team Enjoys Success
The Piggott High School FFA livestock teams have enjoyed a productive fall, bringing home a variety of trophies and ribbons from both the Clay County Fair and the NEA District Fair at Jonesboro.
During the Clay County Fair, held in mid-September, members of the local chapter made a strong showing in a variety of shows.
In the commercial gilt show, Ally Kilbreath took grand champion honors, while the entry by Hannah Powell was reserve grand champion. Madison Vanderkooi took first place in Class One, while Kilbreath and Powell were first and second in Class Two.
Hannah Powell's entry in the market hog show took grand champion honors, with Macey Powell earning reserve grand champion. Vanderkooi also took first place in Class One, with Macey Powell taking first in Class Two; Hannah Powell took first place in Class Three, with Noman Collins taking third. Meanwhile, Kilbreath was second in Class Four, while Collins was third and another Kilbreath entry finished fourth.
The Pig Showmanship winner was Hannah Powell.
This year's supreme champion heifer at the Clay County Fair was the entry by Molly Williams, while the grand champion commercial heifer was entered by Hunter Jackson and reserve grand champion heifer was entered by Hannah Powell.
The entry by Daniel Spinks took first place in Class One, Hannah Powell's entry took first in Class Two, with Katelyn Jackson, Ty Haygood and Brandon Wellman taking second, third and fourth.
Hunter Jackson was first in Class Three, followed by Ty Haygood, Katelyn Jackson and Hannah Smart in second, third and fourth place.
The champion Charlois heifer was shown by Molly Williams, the reserve Charlois heifer was shown by Maggie Williams and Jeffery Holle won for grand champion steer.
NEA District Fair
In the market hog show at the annual NEA District Fair a number of the Piggott FFA members brought home ribbons. Madison Vanderkooi took fifth in Class One, Macey Powell was sixth in Class Five, Norman Collins was fifth in Class Seven, Hannah Powell was seventh in Class Eight, Ally Kilbreath's entries finished fifth and sixth in Class Nine with Collins taking home seventh place honors.
In the heifer show, Molly Williams' entry brought home honors as champion Charlois heifer, while Maggie Williams took first place in Class One. In the commercial heifer show, Hannah Smart's entry won grand champion American commercial heifer.
The reserve grand champion, exotic commercial heifer, went to Daniel Spinks, and he also took first place in Class One, while Katelyn Jackson took first place in Class Two.
Hannah Powell won grand champion English commercial heifer with her entry, and also garnered first place in Class One, while Ty Hagood took second.
In Class Two it was Katelyn Jackson in third while Brandon Wellman finished fourth. In Class Three it was Hunter Jackson in first place while Ty Haygood took third.
And, Jeffery Holle posted another win, taking grand champion prospect steer honors at the regional level.
