Rena Snow, 97, of Rector, Ark., passed from this life on October 24, 2016, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark. She was born January 19, 1919, to the late Forrest and May (Shumate) Evans.
Rena was a lifelong learner, evidenced by her determination to go to high school, beginning at age 17 and graduating at 21 as the valedictorian. Even in her very busy roles as wife, mother and homemaker she was active in Extension Homemakers Club for over 60 years. She took some art lessons and a correspondence course in accounting. She was a member of First Baptist Church and very involved in Sunday School and Penn Lyle Mission Organization. Her love of reading kept her a very active customer of the Rector Library. She was a member of the Garden Club and a volunteer for the Rector Museum. She adapted her learning style to become a Facebook user when she was 90.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she was married to for 59 years, Benjamin Franklin Snow.
She is survived by their children and their spouses, Janis and Bruce Mundy, Glen and Jackie Snow, Ellen and Darrell Dalton, Judy and Rick Neely, Celia and Frank Henary, Paige and Richard Mobley, and Craig and Diane Snow. Rena was also blessed with 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at the First Baptist Church of Rector.
