Halloween is Monday, Oct. 31, and a variety of events have been planned locally.

A fun Halloween event for the entire family is being held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Rector Memorial Park.

Churches in the Rector area are sponsoring a Halloween Block Party that will include a Trunk or Treat, as well as bounce houses, hay rides, games and prizes.

"This a free community event for the whole family," a spokesman said. "Be prepared for a frighteningly good time."

Organizers also are providing hot dogs, hot cocoa, cotton candy, popcorn and more. Everyone is invited to participate.

Community Alliance, of Piggott, is hosting a community trunk-or-treat on Halloween, and organizers note the public is invited to attend. The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, on the square in downtown Piggott, and is intended as a community-wide event for everyone. Members of the alliance note there will be popcorn, candy and fun for those of all ages, and area residents are encouraged to attend whether they want to hand-out candy or just enjoy the fellowship. Those wanting additional information may contact Barbie Johnson at 870 598-2501.

The Rector General Baptist Church will host a Fall Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. The festival will include games, food and fun for the entire family and everyone is invited to drop-in. The church is located across from Harp's in Rector.

New Hope Baptist Church is hosting its annual Fall Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. The festival will include their men's chili cook-off, games, door prizes and a lot of great food. Everyone is encouraged to come, and enjoy a fun-filled night according to organizers. The church is located on U.S. Highway 62, on the west edge of Pollard.
