A small, but dedicated, group of runners took part in the annual Rickman-Brown Memorial 5K Run/Walk Saturday in Piggott. This year the event served to promote Alzheimer's awareness, and funds from the event benefited the effort. For 2016, the event was also a costume run with the option of wearing specific colors in support of Alzheimer's awareness and support. Local organizer Karen Coomer reports this year's event generated some $1,300.

The fundraiser is held each October in memory of two former Piggott students who lost gallant battles with cancer, Erica Rickman and Matthew Brown.

Donations are still being accepted for the cause, and those wanting additional information may contact Coomer at PHS or by calling 598-4392.
