Greyhound Hoops Update
The Lady Greyhounds of Marmaduke extended their win streak to six games with a 57-24 girls high school basketball win against Sloan-Hendrix last Tuesday. The Lady Greyhounds had split their first four games of the season before starting the run of consecutive wins.
Tabitha Hyten finished with a double-double for Marmaduke (6-2) by tallying 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Mays led the Lady Greyhounds scoring attack with 14 points while Natalie Shelton chipped in with 11 points.
Marmaduke remained unbeaten on the season at 12-0 with a 56-28 junior girls basketball win last Tuesday.
Heidi Robinson led the Junior Lady Greyhounds with 19 points.
Up next, both the senior and junior Marmaduke girls basketball teams were scheduled to host Hillcrest on Tuesday.
Sloan-Hendrix avenged its lone loss of the season by defeating Marmaduke 56-54 last Tuesday in high school, boys basketball action.
The Greyhounds had beaten Sloan-Hendrix 58-47 a week earlier. In the contest, Hunter Stallings made two free throws with .7 second remaining in the game in the two teams' second meeting last week, erasing a 54-all tie and replacing it with his team's two-point victory.
Marmaduke had rallied from a 17-6 first-quarter deficit, closing to within 30-25 by halftime and trailing just 43-40 heading into the final period.
Jonathan Webb paced the Greyhounds with 17 points while Derek Agee added 16 points and Bryson Horton finished with 10 points.
On Friday, Marmaduke suffered a 56-23 loss to Buffalo Island Central to drop to 4-5 on the year.
The Greyhounds were scheduled to host Hillcrest on Tuesday before competing in the Williams Baptist College Tournament over the weekend.
