The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Christmas Lighting Contest this holiday season.

Prizes of $100, $50 and $25 will be awarded to the best exterior residential lighting display within the Rector community.

A $100 prize also will be awarded to the best decorated business.

To be eligible, an entry form must be submitted to the Rector Water Department office by Dec. 9. The winner will be announced the following week.

An informational sheet will be developed which will direct persons to the addresses of the outstanding lighting displays in Rector.

Parade set for Dec. 8

The Rector Junior High football team has been selected as Grand Marshals for the upcoming Rector Christmas Parade.

The team won the conference championship and is the only undefeated team in the history of the school.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, and follow a route that will conclude at the Rector Community Center, where the annual holiday reception will be held. There will be performances by the Rector Public Schools music department and serving of hot chocolate and cookies. Santa Claus also will be available for photos.

The event is sponsored by the Rector Area Chamber of Commerce. A prize of $100 will be presented to the best float, as well as $25 for the best-decorated street ornament.

Persons or groups wanting to participate in the parade may call event coordinator Christina Boyd at 595-2300.
