Lawrence Hamilton, 95, of Paragould, Ark., passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at his home.
Born March 23, 1921, in Lafe, Ark., to Walter and Mary Hamilton, he was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Hamilton retired from the Crowley's Ridge Development Council and was a member of the New Home Baptist Church.
He was a carpenter, a former employee of the A.S.C.S. office and loved cattle farming. Mr. Hamilton was recognized as the last charter member of Delta Cotton Co-op, a charter member of the Hopewell R.C.I. club and as a 4-H leader. He served on the Greene Acres Nursing Home Board along with some other board of directors. Mr. Hamilton was also an active member of the Greene County Senior BEES.
Survivors include one son, Maurice Hamilton (June) of Corning; one daughter, Patricia Pratt (Bill) of Marmaduke; one stepson, Allen Stewart (Sharon) of Houston, Tex.; five grandchildren, Kevin Pratt, Andrea Stockert, David Hamilton, Taylor Hamilton and Will Stewart along with nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Verneal; his second wife, Wilma; and by two sisters, Ruby Hamilton and Ethel Fultz.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4 in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hartsoe Cemetery, Marmaduke.
