Don Franklin Simpson, 76, of Piggott, Ark., passed away December 27, 2016, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott. He was born on December 20, 1940, in Greenway, Ark., and was the son of the late Emil Don and Edith (Book) Simpson.

Don served in the United States Navy and was Honorably Discharged. He later retired after many years of working for the railroad in Michigan.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Jean Jordan on April 24, 1963, and to this union two children were born.

His parents; brother, Lewis Wendel Simpson; and sister, Carolyn Simpson Burris preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jean Simpson of Piggott; two sons, Rudy Simpson and wife Tracie of Carleton, Mich. and Donnie Simpson and wife Christy of Piggott; two granddaughters, Savanna and Sierra Simpson both of Carleton, Mich.; a brother, Curtis Larry Simpson and wife Janice of Lampasas, Tex.; three sisters, Bessie Fielder and husband Bill of Piggott, Maggie Brigman and husband Bill of Campbell, Mo. and June Nell Johnson of Jonesboro, Ark.; two brothers-in-law, Jack Jordan of Flint, Mich. and Donald Burris of Piggott; three sisters-in-law, Jo Jordan of Piggott, Jan King and husband Leon of Willow, Alaska, and Delores Judd and husband David of Bing Hampton, N.Y. along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with David Finley officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Ark. Pallbearers were Carl Ed Lovelady, Mark Burris, Cody Burris, David Brady, Calvin Hagler and Crandall Hagler. Visitation was held beginning at noon on Monday, and continued until the time of the service at the funeral home. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
