Mohawk Banquet Moved to PHS
Tickets are still on sale for a special recognition banquet, honoring the Piggott Mohawk football team of 2016, but the response has prompted organizers to move the location. The banquet celebrating the historic 2016 season will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, at Piggott High School, as opposed to the previously announced plans to hold it at the community center. The program is being hosted by Mohawk alumni, and will feature special guest speaker Link Fuller.
The dinner has been planned to recognize all players from seventh through 12th grade at PHS, with special recognition for the team and individual accomplishments during the past season.
Fuller, a PHS grad and former Mohawk standout, is an inspirational teacher, speaker and trainer. Over the course of the past 25 years he has taught, coached and shared the dynamics of effective teaching, personal power, leadership dynamics and teamwork. He has also worked as a corporate recruiters and in sales management and customer service training for a number of Fortune 500 companies.
During his junior and senior years at PHS, in 1968 and 1969, the Mohawk football team compiled a record of 20-3. Fuller's post-season honors included being chosen All-District and being named the Oustanding Lineman in the District, he was also named All-State and was a Kodak High School All-American. Following graduation he played in the Arkansas High School All-Star game, and received a full football scholarship to the University of Arkansas to play for the Razorbacks. Later in life he worked for the Dallas Cowboy organization as a scout for Coach Tom Landry.
Everyone connected with the Piggott Mohawk football community is invited to attend. Tickets are $10 for the dinner, and all proceeds will benefit the continued success of the Mohawk football program. Tickets are available from Mohawk football players, at the City Market and from organizer Joe Cole.
