Ersel Maynard Morris
Ersel Maynard Morris, 88, of Rector, Ark., passed away January 3, 2017, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
He was born on April 10, 1928, in Fagus, Mo., and was the son of the late Ersel Clarence and Bertie (Watson) Morris.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Wright on Sept. 29, 1949, and to this union two children were born.
Maynard was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 513 and the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Jake Forrest and Caleb Morris, and brother, Henry Riley Morris.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Morris of Rector; two children, James Morris and wife Rosemary of Rector and Brenda Mobley and husband Weldon of Rector; two grandsons, Jason Burkman and Chase Morris; five great-grandchildren, Blake, Baylor, Brielle, Matthew and Uriah; two sisters, JoAnn Hawkins of Springfield, Ark. and Lola Ames of Luella, Okla. and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with his grandson, Jason Burkman, officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Ark. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday and will continue until service time.
