Norma Jean (Sample) Lewis

Norma Jean (Sample) Lewis, 68, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Friday, December 30, 2016, at her home. She was born April 16, 1948, in Kennett, Mo., and was the daughter of H.D. Sample and Willa Mae (Raney) Lassiter.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Ronnie Sample.

Survivors include her mother, of Southaven, Miss.; three children, Mark Lewis of Southaven, Miss., Laura Cox of Jonesboro, Ark. and Jason Banks of Piggott; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Sample of Mounds, Okla. and Ken Sample of Germantown, Tenn.; one sister, Dee Ann Leahy of St Petersburg, Fla. and many other relatives and friends.

She was a member of the Church of Christ. She also spent many years as a nurse in local hospitals, and nursing homes, caring for others.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, in the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Nimmons Cemetery.
