Due to overwhelming response, Saturday's Piggott Mohawk Football Banquet has been moved to the PHS cafeteria. The banquet, planned to celebrate the historic 2016 season for Mohawk football, will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, and is hosted by Mohawk alumni.

The banquet is being held to honor all players in the Mohawk football program, seventh through 12th grades. It's scheduled to include special recognition for the team and individual accomplishments will be recognized as well from the previous season.

Serving as the keynote speaker for the occasion is former Mohawk standout Link Fuller. The PHS grad has spent the majority of his adult life as an inspirational teacher, speaker and trainer. Using the lessons he has learned, over the course of the past 25 years he has taught, coached and shared the dynamics of effective teaching, personal power, leadership dynamics and teamwork. His resume also includes time as a corporate recruiter and in sales management and customer service training for a number of Fortune 500 companies.

During his junior and senior years at Piggott High School, in 1968 and 1969, the Mohawk football team compiled a record of 20-3. Fuller was also recognized for his contributions with post-season honors included being chosen All-District and the Oustanding Lineman in the District. Fuller was also named All-State and was a Kodak High School All-American. Following graduation he played in the Arkansas High School All-Star game, and received a full football scholarship to the University of Arkansas to play for the Razorbacks. Later in life he worked for the Dallas Cowboy organization as a scout for Coach Tom Landry.

Organizers note everyone connected with the Piggott Mohawk football community is invited to attend. Tickets are $10 for the dinner, and all proceeds will benefit the continued success of the Mohawk football program. Tickets are available from Mohawk football players, at the City Market in Piggott and from organizer Joe Cole.
