Shirley Mae Haywood, 79, of St. Francis, Ark., passed away January 14, 2017, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark.

She was born on October 18, 1937, in St. Francis, and was the daughter of the late Howard and Elsie (Irby) Glidwell.

She was united in marriage to Edgar "Junior" Haywood on April 10, 1955, and to this union one son was born. Junior preceded her in death on February 4, 2012.

She was a lifetime member of the St. Francis Baptist Church, in St. Francis, and was employed at Piggott State Bank for 40 years, where she thoroughly enjoyed getting to visit daily with the many people of Piggott. She was well known for her famous no-bake cookies, that were a must-have at any gathering, and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's scholastic and athletic events, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ira Dean Glidewell and James Clifford Glidewell.

She is survived by her son, Rick Haywood and wife Donna of St. Francis; two grandchildren, Kalee Haywood and Nick Haywood, of St. Francis, and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at St. Francis Baptist Church, in St. Francis, with Randy Deprow officiating and Doug Clinton assisting. Burial is in Gravel Hill Cemetery, located near St. Francis. Pallbearers are Chuck Schulte, Colton Poole, James Latimer, Gary Nichols, Jeff Benbrook, Vance Whaley, Phil Daffron, Johnny Ray McKenney and Matt Cole. Honorary pallbearers are Max Poole, Larry Holcomb, Jim Duty, Charles Albert Hollis, Harry Niewald, Sr., Johnny McKenney, Charles Hinkle and Charles "Midge" Conley.
