Hughey Fannen Burdin, Sr.
Hughey Fannen Burdin, Sr., age 81, of Bonne Terre, Mo., passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, Mo. He was born September 27, 1935, in Rector, Ark., the son of the late Lena (nee Berry) and Bennie Burdin.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby (nee Masters) Burdin; daughter Sharon (Robert) Scherrer of Bonne Terre; sons Hughey (June Williams) Burdin Jr. of Bonne Terre and Tim (Kathy) Burdin of Festus, Mo; brothers Alvie (Zell) Burdin of Piggott, Ark. and Victory Randle (Velda) Burdin of Festus; a sister, Ruby Irene Maddox of Piggott; grandchildren, Bryan (Stephanie) Shaner, Kasey (Ryan) Nichols, Timothy Burdin II, Mary (Ryan) McAllister, Melissa Burdin, Robert (Amanda) Scherrer and Cassandra (Kasey) Zimpfer; and great-grandchildren Evie and Olin Shaner, Liam, Arwen, and Ava Nichols, Stephen Marler, Robbie Scherrer III, Jase Zimpfer, Jordan Schwein and Ethan Smith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Lula Beatrice Stevenson, Bessie Jane Burdin, and Deloris Burdin; brothers, James Edward Burdin and John "Rollen" (Betty survives of Piggott) Burdin; sister-in-law, Claudia Burdin and great-granddaughter, Serenity Hope Nichols.
He was a foreman with Laborers Local #110 and IUOE #513, both in St. Louis, a United States Army veteran, and a deacon and head of the cemetery board at Lebanon Baptist Church in Bloomsdale, Mo.
Visitation will begin at noon Thursday, Feb. 2, at Lebanon Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Jimmie Turner, associate pastor of 1st Baptist Church of Hillsboro. Interment in Lebanon Baptist Cemetery in Bloomsdale.
Memorials in Hughey's memory are preferred to the Lebanon Baptist Cemetery Fund.
