Thursday, February 2, 2017

A three vehicle crash south of Marmaduke on Tuesday, Jan. 24, claimed the lives of two men, including a resident of the city.

According to reports from the Arkansas State Police, the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 49, south of Marmaduke, the conditions were clear and the pavement dry at the time of the mishap.

The report indicated a 2008 Chevrolet truck, being driven northbound by David Nolen, 48, of Marmaduke, came upon another truck and struck the second vehicle in the rear. Nolen's truck then went left-of-center and collided head-on with a 2012 Ford van being driven by Stadford Mace, 29, of Edwards, Miss.

Both Nolen and Mace were killed in the collision, which closed the highway for quite some time as the vehicles and debris were removed.

The name of the third motorist was not released, and no injuries were reported.

The fatal accident was investigated by Trooper Anthony Hall of the Arkansas State Police.
