Rector Council Approves Fire Station Expansion

Thursday, February 23, 2017

The Rector City Council voted during a special meeting Thursday to authorize mayor Teresa Roofe to borrow $104,000 from Piggott State Bank for the expansion of the city's main fire station on Highway 49.

Construction on the 30 by 60-foot addition is expected to begin soon and will require approximately 90 days to complete. City crews will handle the site preparation and Square Post Builders has contracted the construction.

According to fire captain Stephen Sigsby, the new addition will house three fire trucks and a hazmat trailer, as well as additional storage.

The existing building will be remodeled for offices, classroom space, a training area and two restrooms. Central air and heat will be installed in that area.
